Star Gazing
Where the stars go?
Many of them died
Light-years ago.
But, even so,
They have shined mystically
In distant sky, every night,
Like astronomically numbered
Loose diamonds of longing,
In civilizations and in legends
For centuries man lived,
Until pollution arrived
And TV sets conquered nights.
Surviving city lights,
Reduced constellations
To few orphan stars.
Only a handful of them can still gleam
For a handful of us who still dream.
