哈佛心理學教授蘭格（Ellen Langer），在1979年邀請了一群70至80歲的高齡長者，到美國新罕布夏州的一個修道院。在這裡，蘭格把修道院內部，布置成1959年的場景。並且要求這些長者們，想像自己活在1959年，就彷彿自己是那個20年前的自己一樣。
