If you were light, then I would be the air,

To wrap you close in every dawn and night,

No flame could burn with love more true or rare,

Than that which blooms within your silent light.

Though time may steal the color from your face,

And silver thread your hair with quiet grace,

My heart shall not forget its sacred place,

For in your soul, I see my soul’s own trace.

Let tempests come, and mountains fall to sea,

Let stars collapse and daylight cease to be,

Still shall my vow endure, still shall you see,

My love, unchained by death or destiny.

So if the world forgets all things but one,

Let it recall: I loved you like the sun.
