1.shriek /ʃrik/(n.)

Definition: a short, loud, high cry, especially one produced suddenly as an expression of a powerful emotion

Ex. The shriek sent shivers up and down my spine.

2.runt /rʌnt/(n.)

Definition: the smallest and weakest animal of a group born at the same time to the same mother

Ex. Animals reject the runt of the litter.

3.wobble /ˈwɑ.bl̩/(v.)

 Definition: to cause something to shake or move from side to side in a way that shows poor balance

 Ex. Don't wobble the desk when I'm writing.

 4.woodshed /ˈwʊd.ʃed/(n.)

Definition: a small building where wood for burning is stored

 Ex. The woodshed burned down in half an hour.

5.grunt /ɡrʌnt/(v.)

Definition: (1.) (of a pig) to make a low, rough noise (2.) (of a person) to make a short, low sound instead of speaking, usually because of anger or pain

 Ex. The pigs were grunting contentedly as they ate their food.

6.ooze /uz/(v.)

Definition: to flow slowly out of something through a small opening, or to slowly produce a thick sticky liquid

Ex. Blood was still oozing out of the wound.

7.holler /ˈhɑ.lɚ/ (v.)

 Definition: to shout loudly

 Ex. Jake was hollering something about seeing a wolf.

8.manure /məˈnjʊr/ (n.)

Definition: solid waste from animals, especially horses, that is spread on the land in order to make plants grow well

Ex. The farmers were distributing manure over the field.

9.axle /ˈæksl̩/(n.)

Definition: a bar connected to the center of a circular object such as a wheel that allows or causes it to turn, especially one connecting two wheels of a vehicle

 Ex. The rear axle carries the greatest weight.

10.trough /trɑf/(n.)

Definition: a long, narrow container without a lid that usually holds water or food for farm animals

Ex. A boy herded half a dozen camels down towards the water trough.

11.chuckle /ˈtʃʌk.l̩/(v.)

Definition: to laugh quietly

Ex. Sara gave a mean chuckle, but involuntarily lowered her voice slightly.

12.radish /ˈræd.ɪʃ/(n.)

Definition: a small vegetable, usually red or white and round or shaped like a finger, which grows underground and is usually eaten uncooked in salads

Ex. The blade of this knife is so dull that it will not cut a radish.

13.prance /præns/(v.)

Definition: to walk in an energetic way and with more movement than necessary

Ex. A real man didn't prance around and yap at the mouth and preen for the camera.

14.twirl /twɝl/(v.)

Definition: to (cause to) give a sudden quick turn or set of turns in a circle

Ex. He walks along briskly and twirl his cane in the air.

15.spaniel /ˈspæn.jəl/(n.)

Definition: a type of dog with long hair and long ears that hang down

Ex. I've always wanted a springer spaniel.

16.commotion /kəˈmoʊ.ʃən/ (n.)

Definition: a sudden short period of noise, confusion, or excited movement

Ex. They made a commotion by yelling at each other in the theater.

17.asparagus /əˈsper.ə.ɡəs/ (n.)

Definition: a plant with pale green, juicy stems that are cooked and eaten as a vegetable

Ex. They both had mutton with jelly, roast potatoes and asparagus.

18.hind /haɪnd/(a.)

Definition: at the back of an animal's body

Ex. The horse reared up on its hind legs.

19.hullabaloo /ˌhʌl.ə.bəˈlu/(n.)

Definition: a loud noise made by people who are angry or annoyed

Ex. They like to live in the countryside, far way from crowd and hullabaloo.

Definition: to produce a strong, regular beat

Ex. A dull pain began to throb behind his lids.

21.middling /ˈmɪdl̩.ɪŋ/ (a.)

Definition: medium or average; neither very good nor very bad

Ex. Cindy’s hair was short and of a middling brown color.

22.popover/ˈpɑp.ovɚ/(n.)

Definition: light hollow muffin made of a puff batter (individual Yorkshire pudding) baked in a deep muffin cup

Ex. John stirred up some popover batter.

23.eaves /ivz/(n.)

Definition: the edge of a roof that sticks out over the top of a wall

Ex. The wind whistled through the eaves.

24.pigweed/ˈpɪgwid/(n.)

Definition: common weedy European plant introduced into North America; often used as a potherb

Ex. When eating wild pigweed, you should pay attention to your safety.

25.crust /krʌst/(n.)

Definition: (1.) a hard outer covering of something (2.) the outside layer of a loaf of bread

Ex. The pastry crust was always underdone.
