1.defame /dɪˈfeɪm/ (v.)

Definition: to damage the reputation of a person or group by saying or writing bad things about them that are not true

Ex. We expect politicians to defame each other in an election year.

 

2.sensational/senˈseɪ.ʃən.əl/(a.)

Definition: very good, exciting, or unusual

Ex. Billy’s performance was sensational.

 

3.onspire /kənˈspaɪr/(v.)

Definition: to plan secretly with other people to do something bad, illegal, or against someone's wishes

Ex. Sandra admitted conspiring with her lover to murder her husband.

 

4.dramatize /ˈdræm.ə.taɪz/(v.)

Definition: When writers dramatize books, stories, poems, etc., they write them again in a form that can be performed.

Ex. David is planning to dramatize the novel.

Definition: a written record of historical events

Ex. Jennifer’s latest novel is a chronicle of life in a Devon village.

Definition: greater, better, more important, or going past or above all others

Definition: without stopping, or seeming to have no end

Ex. This was what they achieved after two years of ceaseless military labor.

Definition: very surprising or shocking

Ex. This is the most astounding confession I have ever listened to.

 

10.resonant /ˈrez.ən.ənt/(a.)

Definition: clear and loud, or causing sounds to be clear and loud

Ex. Keith responded with a resonant laugh.

 

11.brawl /brɑl/ (n.)

Definition: a noisy, rough, uncontrolled fight

Ex. We could hear the loud brawl of a brook behind the house.
