1.abandon
Explain: To leave someone when you should stay with them and take care of them.
Example: George almost persuaded me to abandon my studies and join him.

Explain: To treat someone in a cruel or violent way.
Example: Those with access to private information must not abuse that trust.
3.harsh
Explain: Harsh conditions or places are unpleasant and difficult to live in.
Example: This was Tim's first experience of the harsh realities of life.
4.settlement
Explain: A place where people have come to live permanently, usually when there were very few people living there before.
Example: They discovered the remains of an early Anglo-Saxon settlement.

Explain: If you spray a liquid, or it sprays, it is forced out of a container through an opening into the air.

Explain: A tame animal has been trained to stay calm when people are near it, because it is used to being with them.
Example: Children enjoy the farm setting and the tame farm animals.

Explain: Someone’s way of looking at someone or something.
Example: As he spoke, his gaze remained fixed on the letter in his hand.
17. formidable
Explain: Very impressive in size, power, or skill and therefore deserving respect and often difficult to deal with.
Example: The company has built up a formidable reputation for quality.

Explain: Happening, existing, or done before a particular time.
Example: The plane seemed to catch fire a few seconds prior to taking off.

Explain: Involving or relating to real situations and events.
Example: We aren't very practical so we usually hire someone to do the major repairs.

Explain: A group of people who share the same goal and work together to achieve it.
Example: The agreement governs the free movement of goods between countries.
21. layout
Explain: The way in which the different parts of something are arranged.
Example: You'll get accustomed to the layout of the keyboard.
22. maintenance
Explain: Work that is done to keep a building, machine, or piece of equipment repaired and in good condition.
Example: Performing maintenance under such trying conditions was also a challenge.
23. displace
Explain: To force someone to leave their own country and live somewhere else.
Example: Investment in the nationalized industries has simply displace private investment.
24. partition
Explain: A wall, screen, or piece of glass used to separate one area from another in a room or vehicle.

Explain: Relating to people's homes and family life
