1.collapse

Explain: If a building or other structure collapses, it suddenly falls down.

Example: The trial collapsed amid allegations that officers fabricated evidence.

2.drought

Explain: A long period of time when there is little or no rain and crops die.

Example: This has been despite a well-documented two year goal drought.

3.starvation

Explain: A situation in which people and animals suffer or die because they do not have enough to eat.

Example: Millions are threatened by starvation and disease each year.

4.humid

Explain: Hot and wet in a way that makes you feel uncomfortable.

Example:Create a humid atmosphere for house plants by lining the bath with capillary matting.

5. rustle

Explain: To make a sound like the one that leaves or sheets of paper make when they move.

Example: The leaves on the branch rustled and shook.

6.snort

Explain: To make a sudden loud noise through your nose, for example because you are angry or laughing.

Example: With a disgusted snort, Jack stormed out of the dining room.

7. twitch

Explain: To make a sudden quick movement.

Example: It's like sitting on a river bank with a fishing rod, anticipating the slightest twitch from beneath the water.

8. rusty

Explain: A rusty metal object is covered in RUST

Example: I warn you, my piano playing's pretty rusty.

9. petrify

Explain:To frighten someone so much that they cannot move or decide what to do.

Example: I am petrified of heights and last year did an abseil which I found really scary.

10. intent

Explain: Concentrating hard on something.

Example: He was so intent on his bodybuilding magazine, he didn't notice me come in.

11. fury

Explain: A feeling of very strong anger that usually does not last very long.

Example: Workers expressed their fury at the tax increases.

12. leash

Explain: A long thin piece of material attached to a dog's collar so that it can be controlled in a public place.

Example: All dogs must be kept on a leash while on the beaches.

13. snarl

Explain: If an animal such as a dog or a lion snarls, it makes an angry sound in its throat and shows its teeth.

Example: An accident snarled up the traffic for hours.

14. menace

Explain: Someone or something that is dangerous and likely to cause harm.

Example: This youth and his family are well known for stealing cars and are nothing but a menace to the community.

15. grunt

Explain: To make a short low sound in your throat and nose at the same time.

Example: It happens in the best of marriages when your partner asks you about your day and you just grunt or turn away or vice versa.

16. frailty

Explain: The condition of being physically weak and not in good health.

Example: Figures of authority are all too prone to human frailty.

17. foe

Explain: An enemy

Example: We must present our case in such a way that we make our foes our friends and not make friends our foes.

18. charge

Explain: An official statement accusing someone of committing a crime.

Example: Philip's in charge of our marketing department.

19. majestic

Explain: Big, beautiful, or impressive in a calm and serious way.

Example: The majestic beauty of its rugged mountains and the simple way of life are a major draw card.

20. nostril

Explain: One of the two holes at the end of your nose.

Example: Fluid was collected from the left nostril and found to be sterile.

21. sideways

Explain: to, toward, or from one side.

Example: If you stand sideways it's harder for people to hit you.

22. extinction

Explain: The situation when an animal, plant, or language no longer exists.

Example: The concentration was employed to transform the experimentally obtained absorption into extinction coefficient spectra.

23. despair

Explain: The feeling that a situation is so bad that nothing you can do will change it.

Example: To my utter despair, the car would not start.

24. growl

Explain: To say something in an unfriendly and angry way.

Example: A soft growl ripped through his throat and he wrapped his arm around her waist, pulling her back to him.

25. outlast

Explain: To last longer or continue to be successful for longer than someone or something else.

Example: This system has outlasted many of its rivals.
