Taiwan is now overrun with that highly contagious COVID variant which has brought adverse impact to our daily activities, including our personal lives.  The epidemic reminds me of the severe flu that almost devastated Taiwan over sixty years ago.

In 1957 when I was a fourth grader in elementary school, the flu hit Taiwan.  At least over one third of the students and the teachers contracted the virus and were forced to stay at home, and I contracted it, too.  The malignant virus was so vicious that made victims, including me, feel like dying.  Thanks to Heaven, my families and I survived the flu.  (I do not know how many people died of the flu then)

The virus coming from nowhere will constantly invade the domain of human beings, and that is for sure.  Pessimistically, I think people have to admit the theroy of "the survival of the fittest" is sad but true.
