Both sides claimed to have inflicted heavy losses on each other and captured or destroyed several border posts. Heavy fighting resumed on 15 October, with both sides accusing the other of initiating the violence. The fiercest battles occurred in Spin Boldak, where civilian casualties were reported, and both countries issued conflicting claims regarding the extent of losses. Pakistan later announced precision airstrikes inside Afghanistan, targeting what it described as militant hideouts. Afghan locals and media outlets confirmed airstrikes in Kabul and on military installations in Kandahar. Meanwhile, the Taliban denied reports of new airstrikes in Kabul, attributing the explosions to an oil tanker blast. A temporary ceasefire was announced by both the countries following the airstrikes in Kabul.
