Only doing a little everyday

Someone asked me: "Grand Master Lu, what are your future plans, what are your dreams?"
(Almost every interviewer asks me same question)
My usual reply: "None."
Interviewers would always be surprised and not able to continue with the further questions.
There are also some who asked: "Everyone has a plan, everyone has a dream, why only you would not have any?"
My reply: "I really do not have any."
Them: "Why?"
Me: "Nothing in this world is worth pursuing to me."
I do not wish to build universities.
I do not wish to have TV stations.
I do not wish to build big temple.
I do not wish to have world award.
I do not wish to have millions of disciples.
I do not wish to have a large piece of land.
I do not wish to have a big mansion.
I do not wish to have large hospital.
I do not wish to have the greatest reputation.
I do not wish, do not wish, do not wish, do not wish, do not wish.......

People asked: "Why don't you have any wishes?"
My answer: "I do not have a special talent, I am not a great man, I only know how to do little tasks everyday, I am not extraordinary nor spectacular. I certainly admire and appreciate the great people, but I do not wish to be one."
Me: "I have no reasons to be very proud for establishing True Buddha School. I have no reasons to be very proud for having five millions disciples. I have no reasons to be proud for writing more than two hundreds books. I have no reasons to be very proud for being successful. I have no reasons to be very proud for attaining enlightenment......."
Some asked: "But you really showed your talent and have a reputation."
My reply: "I am only being practical by doing little jobs honestly and with dedication. If to say I have a talent or great fame, it might refer to perseverance. By doing little things daily."

I wrote a poem:
No longer wishing for anything
and therefore would not be attached to fame and fortune
Despite being surrounded by millions of people
I am only a monk

The remaining time at old age is little, I am persuading you
What else do you expect
What else can you gain

It is very funny when you think of it
doing work everyday
Very practical and pragmatic
Only dream and plans are not even mentioned

I said: Some people had been waiting for the Nobel prizez, some built big temple, some built many large hospitals, some built buddhist universities, some had a big TV station. Or even a greater and more majestic memorial hall. I praised.
But, I am only doing a little bit of things everyday and have the job well done.

有人問我：「盧師尊，你將來有什麼計劃，有什麼理想？」
（幾乎每一位專訪我的人都會這樣問）
我千篇一律的回答是：「沒有。」
來人總是張大了口，問不下去了。
又有人問：「人人都有計劃，人人都有理想，為什麼只有你沒有呢？」
我答：「確實沒有。」
人問：「為什麼？」
我說：「這世界上，沒有我值得追求的東西。」
不想建大學。
不想有電視台。
不想建大寺。
不想得世界大獎。
不想擁有千千萬萬弟子。
不想有一大片土地。
不想有大豪宅。
不想有大醫院。
不想有最大名聲。
不想，不想，不想，不想，不想。……
人問：「為什麼你不想？」
我答：「我沒有特別的稟賦，我不是偉大的人，我只會做少少的事情，我不懂超凡，也不懂壯觀，我當然欣賞偉人，但，我根本不想當偉人。」
我答：「我沒有理由，說我創辦了真佛宗，就很驕傲。我沒有理由，說我有五百萬弟子，就很驕傲。我沒有理由，說我寫了二百多本書，就很驕傲。我沒有理由，說我已功成名就，就很驕傲。我沒有理由，說我已明心見性，就很驕傲。……」
人問：「那你確實展現了雄才及聲名？」
我答：「我只是一個腳踏實地，做少少事的人罷了！如果說我有稟賦，或說聲名偉大，可能指的恒心吧！做少少事，但天天做。」
