Bow and pick up your dignity!

《TbnSky Heartfelt Speech》 https://www.facebook.com/TBSkyNews

About 70 years ago, a young man went across sea from Norway to France, he wanted to apply to study at the famous Conservatoire de Paris (college of music and dance). During the exam, despite him playing at his best, he failed to gain admission into the college.

Without a penny on him, the young man came to a busy and luxurious street not far away from the college, he sat down under a large tree and started playing his violin. He played one song after another, which attracted people passing by to stop and listen. He was hungry and finally picked up his violin case, the crowd started to put money into his case.

At this time, a rogue walked by and contemptuously threw the money at the young men. The young men looked at the rogue and eventually bent down to pick up the money on the ground and said: "Sir, you’ve dropped your money."

The rogue took the money and again threw it at the foot of the young man and said arrogantly: "This money is already yours, you have to take it!"

The young man looked at the money and bowed politely at the rogue and said: "Sir, thank you for your support. You dropped your money earlier and I picked it up for you, may I trouble you to pick it up for me now that I have dropped my money?"

The rogue was shocked to hear the unexpected request, he picked up the money and put it in the violin case before walking away feeling embarrassed.

One of the onlookers was an examiner in the Conservatoire who witnessed the whole thing, he brought the young man back to the college and eventually admitted him.

The young man is Pierre Sardin, he later became a minor musicians in Norway, his masterpiece is "Lift up your chest."

When we hit the rock bottom in life, we may experience a lot of prejudices for no apparent reason; when we are struggling for survival, we may come across people who would take pleasure in treading on our dignity. Tit for tat is human instinct of course, but this approach would often make these people even more brutal. Instead, we should respond rationally with tolerance in order to keep our dignity. Then you will realise no evil can stand in the face of justice.
