１９６８年６月出生於麻薩諸塞州波士頓的艾爾B.索爾（Al B. Sure）是活躍於１９８０年代末／１９９０年的美國歌手，原名Albert Joseph Brown III．

布朗曾是紐約州弗農山高中的明星橄欖球四分衛，但他放棄了愛荷華大學的運動獎學金，轉而追求音樂事業。

１９８７年，名製作人昆西瓊斯（Quincy Jones）選擇布朗擔任索尼創新者人才選拔賽的首位冠軍。華納黑人音樂部門提供給他一紙合約．

Sure! 最初想以說唱歌手身份出道，但在聽了表哥Kyle West的音樂後，決定專注在R&B。

 

１９８８年３月，１９歲半的艾爾推出首張大碟［In Effect Mode／有效模式］（Uptown／Warner Bros.唱片發行），

Al B. Sure!，Kyle West，Teddy Riley擔任製作．

歌曲主要由Al B. Sure!，Kyle West創作，樂評正面．

 

 

首支單曲是［Nite and Day／夜與日］

艾爾·B·索爾和Kyle West共同創作，並製作成一首當代R&B／Quiet Storm抒情曲。

在中板的節奏中，索爾以輕柔的唱腔演唱，營造出如同絲綢觸感般的浪漫氛圍．

 

［Nite and Day／夜與日］受到歡迎，登上美國告示牌單曲榜＃７（1988年榜#87），

但登上副榜──黑人單曲榜冠軍，成人當代榜＃１９

讓艾爾一舉成名．

另拿到英國榜＃４４，荷蘭＃７１．

 

單曲的成功讓［In Effect Mode／有效模式］大碟登上美國告示牌專輯榜＃２０，

副榜──黑人專輯榜＃１（七週）,取得２白金唱片（２００萬張＋）

索爾提名多項葛萊美獎（最佳R&B男歌手）和全美音樂獎（AMA）提名，最終獲得全美音樂獎最佳R&B新人獎。
