１９７６年６月　２９歲的英國搞怪搖滾天王艾爾頓．強（Elton John）發行與同鄉歌手琪琪．蒂（Kiki Dee）合唱的單曲［Don’t Go Breaking My Heart／勿傷我心］

這首輕快的流行歌曲由艾爾頓與友人班尼陶本（Bernie Taupin）譜寫

不過強卻以女性筆名Ann Orson  陶本以Carte Blanche掛名

原本艾爾頓打算將其收在下張專輯［Blue Moves］

後來改變決並　並沒放在任何一張錄音室大碟　成為獨立的單曲

雖然艾爾頓當時已成名許久　［Don’t Go Breaking My Heart］卻是他首度登上英國單曲榜王座的主打　並蟬聯六週

大賣一百萬多張　拿到金唱片（當時英國尚未有白金認證）　年度銷售高達亞軍

成為當其事業早期最暢銷的單曲

１９８１年　艾爾頓強與陶本因此曲拿到英國創作最高榮譽Ivor Novello獎最佳歌曲詞曲

在美國　［Don’t Go Breaking My Heart］成為強第六首冠軍（＋Easy Listening／成人當代榜冠軍）　也拿到一張百萬金唱片

法國／加拿大／澳洲／義大利／愛爾蘭冠軍　荷蘭／瑞典／比利時＃３　瑞士＃４　德國／挪威＃５　奧地利＃８

１９９３年底　艾爾頓強發行合唱專輯［Duets］  重唱了［Don’t Go Breaking My Heart］

但對唱歌手變成了美國變裝皇后Rupaul　拿到英國榜＃７
