１９９０年９月　２７歲的英國性感巨星喬治麥可（George Michael）終於發行倍受期待的個人第二張專輯──自作自製自唱的［Listen Without Prejudice Vol. 1／專注聆聽。第一章］

首支單曲是８月推出的抒情曲［Praying For Time／為時間祈禱］,由喬治譜寫並製作成一手軟式搖滾抒情曲

歌曲在探討社會的病態與不公　內容陰暗沉鬱　倍受樂評讚賞

這首睽違近兩年的單曲登上英國單曲榜＃６　

美國方面　則成為他個人第六首流行榜冠軍（＋Whan累計第八首）

（＋成人抒情榜＃４）

國際反應也良好：加拿大冠軍　挪威亞軍　義大利／愛爾蘭＃３　瑞士＃６　紐西蘭＃８　荷蘭＃１０　澳洲＃１６　德國／法國＃１９　奧地利＃２０　日本＃８９

不過這時喬治極力想甩開唱片公司為他塑造的性感形象　當個嚴肅的音樂人

專輯不用個人人像　選用一張４０年代的海灘照片當封面　

也拒絕為［Praying For Time］拍攝MV  原始單曲封面只是一張歌名的黑色圖樣

甚至不願為大碟做任何宣傳

後來唱片公司為［Praying For Time］拍了一支只有歌詞的MV　喬治並沒出現

雖然［Listen Without Prejudice Vol. 1］登上英倫排行榜冠軍  同樣賣出４白金

但在其它地區反應則不如預期

特別是美國只拿到專輯榜亞軍　銷售雙白金

跟上張冠軍［Faith］大賣７百萬張（目前已累計１０００多萬張）　顯然無法相提並論

大碟的失利也讓喬治與SONY唱片興起長達數年的訴訟　導致他近年六後才發行個人第三張全新大碟［Older］
