1.three genres of literature
a. fiction: the classification for any story created by the imagination, rather
than based strictly on history or fact.
b. poem: a form of literature that uses aesthetic and rhythmic qualities of
language—such as phonaesthetics, sound symbolism, and metre—
to evoke meanings in addition to, or in place of, the prosaic
ostensible meaning.
c. drama: The term comes from the Greek word δρᾶμα, drama, meaning
action, which is derived from the verb δράω, draō, meaning to
do or to act.
2.vocabulary
a. nov- : new
for example: renovate(v.): 1. to restore to good condition; make new or
as if new again; repair.
2. to reinvigorate; refresh; revive
Innovate(v.): to introduce something new; make changes in
anything established.
Novel(adj.): of a new kind; different from anything seen or
known before.
b. sub- : under
for example:
subway(n.): an underground electric railroad, usually in a large city.

submarine(n.): a vessel that can be submerged and navigated under
water, usually built for warfare and armed with
torpedoes or guided missiles.

3.sonnet
A sonnet is a poetic form which originated in Italy; Giacomo Da Lentini
is credited with its invention.The term sonnet is derived from the Italian word
sonetto (from Old Provençal sonet a little poem, from son song, from Latin
sonus a sound). By the thirteenth century it signified a poem of fourteen lines
that follows a strict rhyme scheme and specific structure.

Sonnet 18

Sonnet 18, often alternatively titled Shall I compare thee to a summer's
day?, is one of the best-known of 154 sonnets written by the English
playwright and poet William Shakespeare. Part of the Fair Youth sequence
(which comprises sonnets 1–126 in the accepted numbering stemming from
the first edition in 1609), it is the first of the cycle after the opening sequence
now described as the procreation sonnets.
In the sonnet, the speaker compares his beloved to the summer season, and
argues that his beloved is better. He also states that his beloved will live on
forever through the words of the poem.

4. A Midsummer Night's Dream

A Midsummer Night's Dream, a comedy believed to have been written
by William Shakespeare between 1590 and 1597, portrays the events
surrounding the marriage of Theseus, the Duke of Athens, to Hippolyta.
These include the adventures of four young Athenian lovers and a group
of six amateur actors (the mechanicals) who are controlled and manipulated
by the fairies who inhabit the forest in which most of the play is set. The
play is one of Shakespeare's most popular works for the stage and is
widely performed across the world.
5. The Bluest Eye

The Bluest Eye is a 1970 novel by American author Toni Morrison. It is
Morrison's first novel and was written while she was teaching at Howard
University and raising her two sons on her own. The story is about a year
in the life of a young black girl named Pecola who develops an inferiority
complex due to her eye color and skin appearance.
