雖然在此次iOS 16更新說明中，並未看見先前猜測即將推出的常時顯示應用功能，但在針對開發者預先釋出的iOS 16測試版本中，卻似乎暗示此項設計可能會隨著下一款iPhone推出。

依照9to5Mac網站報導，在iOS 16開發者測試版本中保留疑似用於控制iPhone螢幕背光模式的框架設計，或許意味蘋果接下來將使iPhone同樣能開啟螢幕常時顯示功能，讓使用者能更方便透過iPhone上鎖畫面檢視時間、日期等資訊。

而在此次WWDC 2022期間並未特別說明此項功能，或許與蘋果仍在構思此項功能的應用可能性，預期最快會在今年秋季隨著新款iPhone一同推出。

從此次在iOS 16的上鎖畫面設計來看，其實蘋果已經開始加入Apple Watch上的介面設計，因此接下來讓iPhone也能使用常時顯示應用功能的可能性，應該也相當高。

不過，目前不確定此項功能是否會僅現特定機種使用，例如除了今年秋季預計更新的iPhone 14系列之外，可能僅允許iPhone 13系列機種使用，更早推出機種可能會面臨規格差異而無法使用情況。

舉例來說，先前在iPhone上釋出可在配戴口罩情況下以Face ID解鎖功能，就僅限iPhone 12以後機種使用，而在iOS 16中加入可在手機維持橫向時以Face ID解鎖功能，目前則僅限在iPhone 13以後機種使用，因此未來釋出的螢幕常時顯示功能，或許也僅允許iPhone 13以後機種使用。
