一名教士想買鸚鵡。他問寵物店老闆：「你確定牠不會說髒話？」

"Oh absolutely. It's a religious parrot," the storekeeper answers. "Do you see those strings on his legs? When you pull the right one, he recites the lord's prayer, and when you pull on the left he recites the 23rd Psalm."

老闆回答：「當然不會，牠信教。你看到牠腿上的繩子嗎？如果拉右腿的繩子，牠會背主禱文，拉左腿的繩子，牠會背詩篇第23篇。」

"But what happens if you pull both strings?"

「如果兩條繩子一起拉呢？」

"I fall off my perch, you stupid fool!" said the parrot.

鸚鵡說：「笨蛋，當然會從休息架上摔下來。」
