According to Karen Springen in the Newsweek article “New Sensible Eating Rules for Kids,” parent provide kids with regular mealtimes and good variety of food. Lumeng redefines five rules of healthy eating for kids because about one in six U.S. kids is fat.

1, Don’t force feed. Kids need to learn to stop eating when they feel eating enough.

2, Don’t use food as a reward. It isn’t a good way to deal making with kids, and also makes kids overeat.

3. Don’t ban anything and don’t be a short order cook. Kids need to eat variety of food, so you don’t separate dishes for each child.

4, Let them get up. If your kids are done, don’t force them to sit through dinner.

5, Talk to your doctor. If you always worry your kids are not eating enough ot too much, you should make sure they are health with your doctor.
