Throughout August 2009, Volunteers from GPF partnering organizations and Ambassadors for Peace of the Universal Peace Federation – Taiwan, carried out a series of service activities to help victims of Typhoon Morakot which wrought catastrophic damage in the country - leaving 461 people dead and 192 missing* and thousands of houses, bridges and roads destroyed. The volunteers helped deliver rice, foods, commodities and books for children and labored hard as they poured buckets after buckets of water out of flooded houses in a heavily hit region.
Global Peace Festival Taiwan will be held in Taipei on October 31, 2009.
