They say diamonds are women's best friend;
He offers me to treat myself to Tiffany.
The classic blue box and elegant white band,
Should buy me some sanity over the PMS* tyranny?
The kitchen countertop is covered with napkins,
Nicely decorated with red and pink valentines.
Kisses** are taped onto like safety pins,
Kids at school will thank my daughter with clementines.
The 13-year-old snorts at this cheesy gimmick,
Teasing his sister that no one will appreciate it.
She gets annoyed and sick to her stomach,
Shouts out he will never get IT.
How about some spirit of the Valentine's?
Where's the affection, appreciation, at least accommodation?
Never mind giving Mom nice hugs and kisses,
Hope your dad will come home with the blue-box satisfaction.
