聞名全美的鳳凰城少年兒童合唱團成立於1947年，至今已有65年的歷史了。目前在前維也納少年兒童合唱團總監 Georg Stangelberger 的領導下足跡踏遍全美及世界各地。合唱團的宗旨不僅僅是培養一群會唱歌的音樂家，更是要培養青少年成熟的品格、建立自信心、團隊精神和領導能力。每一位團員都要為自己的學費、合唱團和巡迴演出的經費籌款，藉此鍛煉膽識和堅毅的耐性，能夠經得起挫折。
兒子參加了3年合唱團，不但歌喉越來越進步，個性也越來越沉穩。在超市前向顧客募款需要很大的勇氣，還要不斷微笑、琢磨說辭。即使對方惡言相向或冷漠以對，兒子還是笑著說：“謝謝您，願上帝祝福您。” 有時候對方拒絕了卻又受感動，5分鐘後又回來樂捐。有些人會說，“我本來是不想捐的，但是你實在太可愛了！” 有時慷慨解囊的是衣衫襤褸的老太太或一小時賺不到美金7元的打工小弟，他們為了支持和鼓勵熱愛藝術的孩子們，把自己一天的工資都捐了出來。兒子深深感受到高貴的品格和外表是沒有關係的。

Your son was homesick? Oh, poor thing ... Weeks tour isn't easy for a little boy, is it ... Is there anything i can do? They are half way thru and hope they would get some fun for the rest of the tour, although still stressful... Good luck to the boys.

Here comes the post performance report. Mom must be waiting, right ? ... :) ... It was great, BRAVO ... Your son was very focused, a little bit uptight in the beginning but opened up later on, very good... The opening and encore were surprises, with most of the boys standing on the stage and few upstairs in the back for the opening, and a tin shape off stage for encore, to create echo/surrounding effects, very creative. And loved the Memory from the Cats, and an African song. Both were new to me and very entertaining ...
Boys were sneezing or coughing from time to time, maybe 70 degrees were a little chilly for them? Besides your son, there were 10 more, or so, wearing eye glasses ... Just a little surprised about that. .. :) ...
Just wonder if the choir had approached Princeton for using one of their catheral chapels? They are very good for choirs. The venue at the Westminister was just ok.
Lastly, I found that the boy tenors may be good alternavtives for (mezzo) sapranos. They dont sound like men's voice yet, their pitch is high enough, and have the mix of purity, softness and female like feel. It would be interesting to how it would turn out by an experiment ... What do you think? You are a music master ... :) ...
My dear friend, I was so thrilled to receive your report! A+++ to you! Thank you for going to my son's concert (did you went to the Westminister one as well?) It meant a lot to me. I am glad you enjoyed it.
I miss my son very much. He was one of the youngest in this choir and a tour like this can be quite stressful. He wrote to us saying that he was very homesick at night. Perhaps that was why he was uptight--- partially due to lack of sleep. Overall this trip is great for him in many ways.
The Boys Choir is unique because the boys have not changed into men's voice and still sing with the quality of pure, angelistic sound. That is why boys must graduate when they reach the age of 14. In this choir my son's part (the highest voice) is called soprano, then alto, tenor and bass. Some very few good boy-singers, if their vocal core did not change much, went on to become a contra-tenor, like this one. He is world famous now. (Not from our choir though.)

阿姨也一定會捐錢 , 這麼有禮獨立的孩子 , 大老遠就準備好掏錢啦!!
等幾個禮拜回家後 , 孩子一定有說不完的自信 , 期待麵包再寫續文!

看你兒子穿著那麼整齊﹐ 又彬彬有禮的募款﹐ 還加上是贊助藝術﹐ 讓社會更健康﹐ 這樣的款﹐ 不捐也難。
如果每個人都像貞吟阿姨這樣，社會就會充滿希望！
每年的超市募款季兒子總是 看遍人間百態，嚐盡人情冷暖。雖然做媽媽的很心疼不捨，但是對一個溫室裡長大的少爺實在是很寶貴的功課。兒子也因此懂得感恩。
