Freud's structural model of the psyche :

• id : 本我 the set of uncoordinated instinctual trends
• ego : 自我 ego is the organized, realistic part that mediates between the desires of the id and the super-ego.
• superego : 超我 the critical and moralizing role
  → egocentric : thinking only of oneself, without regard for the feelings or desires of others; self-centered.
