新球季開打前6戰，馬林魚隊42歲老將鈴木一朗不是坐板凳，就是待命代打，昨天對大都會隊之戰終於首度先發，4打數1安打，生涯總安打數2937支，如果這種出賽狀況不變，本季加入「3000安俱樂部」恐有難度。

馬林魚3名外野主力歐蘇納、葉力奇、史丹頓，年紀都在24到26歲，開季後固定包辦先發名單；一朗出賽受到極大限制，昨天才首次取代歐蘇納，以第2棒、先發中外野手身分出場，4局上揮出二壘打是本季第2安，離3000安門檻仍有63支。

儘管一朗挑戰3000安被喻為大聯盟本季大事，日本球迷更是引頸期盼，但「華盛頓郵報」季前引用多項分析數字，大膽預測他今年無法達到這個里程碑，重點就是出賽數可能不夠。

一朗是本季唯一有機會挑戰3000安的打者，遊騎兵隊貝爾崔2779安、天使隊普荷斯2672安，最快也要等到明年；馬林魚官網指出，雖然一朗全力追求3000安，但他很難取代隊上3名年輕外野手，畢竟他們讓球隊有最好的贏球機會。
