For this one, inspiration came again from Comcast, which also inspired this masthead. Our last cable bill had a buckslip featuring a black & white photo of a woman, with swoops of color arcing over the rest of the piece. It was subtle but pretty.
For this, I started with the gray background, added the black and white photos, and then just kind of went crazy with colored brushes, barely resisting the urge to have everything symmetrical. (Note the lone yellow brush, which so desperately wanted a symmetrical twin, but I RESISTED.)
As usual, the brushes came from Brusheezy, the images came from stock.xchng, a free stock photography site I recently discovered, and the font, Asmat, came from Dafont. (Best font site ever.)
When I was done, I decided to make it even more interesting by turning it into an animated gif. It only plays once, so to see it repeat, hit refresh.
So there you have it: a masthead I probably would’ve doodled during 11th grade science class.
