There is no "s" when a verb is the plural form.

for example :Houses is plural.There is noun.

known is verb.

Well+past participle=Adjective
An adjective discribes a noun.
(1). simple---know. (2). past---knew. (3). past participle---known
Every one knows him.
He is known well.
He is well known.
He is well-known actor.
This location is known-well around Paris.
The location is well known.
It's well-known location.
This city was planned well.
This city is well planned.
It's a well planned city.
He's paid well.
He's well paid.
He's a well-paid doctor.---well-paid=adjective.
These two words are hyphenated:well paid.
Here are some more example:
They did the work well.
The work was well done.
It was well-done work.
The meat is cooked well.
The meat is well cooked.
It's well-cooked meat.
The young woman was raised well by her parents.
She was well raised.
She is well-raised young woman.

lesson 21 well -- adjective and adverb~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You can use the word "WELL" as an adjective or as an adverb.
Sometimes the word "well" in an adjective. well=healthy
I feel well. I don't fell well. (well)=(adjective).
The verb "FEEL" is a linking verb.
Subject complement.
He is not a well man. He is not healthy.
He is not a good man. His behavior is bad.
She feels well. She feels good.---well and good =adjective.
Both "well" and "good" are adjective in these sentence.
The word "well" is also an adverb.
She speaks English well. or good. "GOOD" is always an adjective.
He played the game well. How did he play? He played well..
However, many Americans use both "well" "good" as adverbs:
You did well. (correct).
You did good. (incorrect).
Grammatically incorrect but common in the U.S.: (1)You did good.(2)This works good.(3)The car drives good.
(These sentenses sound okay, but grammatically they not correct.)
All is well. This is going well. Well done! very good.

lesson 22 using the verb HAVE as a helping verb~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Use "have" as a helping verb. For perfect tenses: have + past participle.
The helping verb goes first. The past participle follows the helping verb (have). The past participle is the main verb.
The verb "have" is the helping verb.

Helping verb: have. main verb: lived.
I have lived in the United States for two years. past participle:lived.

Q: What has she eaten?-----A: She hasn't eaten yet.
What have you learned today?
What have you been learning today?
present perfect continuous tense.
What have you been doing today?
What have you been studying today?


lesson 23 using the verb BE as a helping verb~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The verb "BE". main verb.---helping verb.
* continuous tense.---* passive voice.
She is studying.---They are studying. ---present continuous tense.
She was studing.---They were studying. ---past continuous tense.
They have been studying.---present perfect continuous tense.
(BE) + past participle.---English is studied.---English was studied.---English has been studied.---passive voice.
(is) helping verb.
(studied) is main verb.
