再度聽到" More than I can say"這首經典西洋老情歌, 想起學生時代曾買過一張單曲 CD "More than words", 搖滾樂團 Extreme 唯一一首百聽不厭的情歌. 在 1991年登上美國告示板百大熱門曲的第一名.
簡單的吉他伴奏, 雙人和音與假音, 節奏強烈的敲擊節拍, 已是吉他學習者的練功曲. 除這首 More than words 之外, Extreme 其他歌曲都不符合我聽歌的習性, 太搖滾太重金屬... 即使團員變動多次, 主唱 Gary Cherone 與葡籍吉他手 Nuno Bettencourt 依舊存在, Extreme 在 1995年解散, 據說今年又要復合重出江湖.
Extreme 活躍於美國80年代後期90年代初期的搖滾樂團, 屬於 Funk Metal 重節拍的曲風. 請參考: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extreme_(band)
當年很多同學熱中於學習這位葡籍吉他手 Nuno Bettencourt 特殊的敲擊法; 其實好幾個重搖滾樂團都出過動人情歌, 跟原本風格不太搭, 或許是多方嘗試, 但是我喜歡這類突變與嘗試.
