１９８４年，美國未來樂壇女皇瑪丹娜（Madonna）以首張同名大碟〔Madonna〕（Sire／Warner Bros.）走紅．

另外她也踏足演戲，被選為電影［Desperately Seeking Susan／苦尋蘇珊／尋找蘇珊／神秘約會］的女二──也是片名的蘇珊一角（1984年9-11月拍攝）．

這部成本不大（５００萬美元）的電影在１９８５年３月上映後（Orion影業出品），票房良好，單單美國總票房便達到$27,398,584美元，英國也賣座不錯（£2,331,907英鎊）．

 

［Desperately Seeking Susan］佳評如潮，因其對１９８０年代時尚的影響而聞名，尤其是在當時的年輕女性觀眾群中。

本片的服裝設計部分受到瑪丹娜早期風格的影響。這部電影也被認為是雅痞文化和女性主義的代表作。一些影評人將［Desperately Seeking Susan］評為年度最佳美國電影之一．

 

瑪丹娜為電影錄製一首名為［Desperately Seeking Susan］的歌曲。但最終這首歌並沒有用在電影中，取而代之的是她剛完成的一首小樣［Into the Groove／融入律動］。

電影中只能聽到這首小樣版本。

 

［Into the Groove］由瑪丹娜和前男友史蒂芬布雷（Stephen Bray）於1984年創作並製作。

麥當娜表示，她創作這首歌的速度很快，靈感來自舞池以及她對一位波多黎各男子的愛慕之情。

她從舞池的自由奔放以及自身作為舞者的經歷中汲取靈感，將這首歌描述為透過音樂表達自我的體現。

這首歌最初是為DJ Mark Kamins的少年門徒Cheyne創作，Kamins本人也資助這首歌的demo製作。

 

１９８４年秋天，瑪丹娜在在拍攝電影［Desperately Seeking Susan］Danceteria夜店的場景時，劇組需要一首舞曲，瑪丹娜推薦了［Into the Groove］，並與布雷一起重新創作原版demo的歌詞和結構，最終將其收錄到電影中。

Kamins對這個決定感到憤怒，因為瑪丹娜事先並沒有告訴他她打算自己使用這首歌。
