１９７５年１１月，瑞典流行團體阿巴（ABBA）先在北歐推出第精選大碟［Greatest Hits］（Polar唱片發行）,

１９７６年全球發行．

這張專輯是為回應當時其他國家的唱片公司發行的類似 ABBA 合輯而推出。

他們已獲得ABBA音樂在自己國家發行的許可，而這些合輯的進口銷售可能會對ABBA的本土市場造成影響。

因此，［Greatest Hits］的成功主要限於斯堪的納維亞半島和英國。

１９７６年３月，阿巴推出大碟首支單曲［Fernando／佛南多］

由Björn Ulvaeus、Benny Andersson和 Stig Anderson 創作，

歌名「佛南多」的靈感來自於樂團在瑞典斯德哥爾摩經常光顧的一傢俱樂部里工作的同名調酒師。

 

歌曲分瑞典語和英語兩個版本，

瑞典語歌詞由ABBA經紀人 Stig Anderson 撰寫，敘事者試圖安慰失去摯愛、傷心欲絕的費南多。

英文版的歌詞由Björn Ulvaeus創作，截然不同，描繪兩位老兵在晚年回憶很久以前參加過一場戰鬥的懷舊景象。

 

原本這是為女團員Anni-Frid Lyngstad１９７５年專輯［Frida ensam］所寫的歌曲，

後來樂團重新灌錄，兩名主唱重新詮釋．

由Björn Ulvaeus、Benny Andersson製作成一首歐陸流行／Schlager／抒情曲，旋律優美，，

由Agnetha、Anni-Frid Lyngstad 和Ulvaeus 共同演唱。
