Some time I tend to sympathise the cops
when they react and punched the suspects in response
to the criminal after a wild chase.
The cops risk their life in putting the suspect into custody
and encountered suspects with wild action.
I think in all fairness that is a nature response.
I have never been a wild man. I admit that I have a short
temper. I would never take initiative to let my temper run
out of control. Reviewing all these 17 years in motel business
I have confronted with all kind of meant people. Some time
the guest was trying to provocate me with their dirty mouth and
called my name. Even at that time I was still in control of
my composure and tried to deal with the people peacefully
by calling police.
But "揍人" has never been in my dictionary except one time
in my memory that I did it out of instinct on my self-defense.
The following was the story which actually happened.
After a 6 hours journey from Glendale to Berkeley, Junior
and I finally arrived in front of Berkeley Apt building.
That was in 1993, and I was waiting for a
parking space while Junior was unloading his baggage
for 30 minutes. When I backed in after the parked car left,
a bulky young man rushed to me shouted
with dirty mouth. I tried to reason that I had waited here
for that parking spot.
He demanded that I remove my car and I refused. He became wild
& started pushing me bully me and pushed my pair of
glasses falling down to the ground.
I responded with one punch and knocked
his 2 front teeth. He reacted :
"You battary!..."and continued shouting
The by-stander saw the whole incident and told him to leave by
warning the student the Cop is coming.
The bulky young man left with his white Van.
How dare I landed my fist to that young student? You tell
me.
Junior came out from apartment and eye witnessed the incident.
After that he said: "Dad. This is the 1st time I saw you "揍人"
I said: "I just couldn't help it, could I?"
