今天的咖啡時間跟老公和兒子享用Berliner。Berliner是德國式的甜甜圈(實際上它不是一個''圈'')，外皮雖然跟美式甜甜圈一樣是油炸的酥酥的，但是在美式甜甜圈中空的部分，卻換成了甜滋滋的果醬。這部分是整個Berliner的精華啦！我家小朋友老是『單刀直入』的向這沱果醬進攻。不過他們的媽媽我，卻對這果醬不太有興趣，總覺得一整沱果醬一次一口吃掉，口味太甜了。喔！還有外層灑的除了在台灣一樣常見的砂糖外，更常見的是白白的糖粉，或是淋上一層糖霜，而我就很愛糖霜細緻的口感啦!

事實上每每提到Berliner，德國人就會想起1963年6月26日那天，美國總統約翰·甘乃迪( John F. Kennedy)，在西德西柏林演講的其中一句話。原文是：''...Two thousand years ago the proudest boast was civis romanus sum (I am a Roman citizen). Today, in the world of freedom, the proudest boast is 'Ich bin ein Berliner'' ... All free men, wherever they may live, are citizens of Berlin, and, therefore, as a free man, I take pride in the words 'Ich bin ein Berliner!'

兩千年前最令人驕傲的句子是civis Romanus sum（拉丁語：我是羅馬人）。今日，在自由世界中，最令人驕傲的句子是「Ich bin ein Berliner！」...所有自由人士，無論身處何處，都是柏林的居民。因此，身為自由人，我以「Ich bin ein Berliner」這句話感到自豪！




而''Ich bin ein Berliner''這句話，有人以文法規則來翻，變成了''我是一個甜甜圈''，但是事實上這句話用的冠詞''ein''，就文法來看並沒有錯；如果甘乃迪當時只說''Ich bin Berliner.''就只有單純的『我是柏林人、我來自柏林。』的意思。而根據上下文，他真正表達的其實是"I am one with the people of Berlin." 。
