        Two men were journeying together when one of them notice an axe lying on the ground. “We have had a lucky find,” said his companion. “Don’t say ‘We’,” replied the other; “say ‘You  have had a find’.” Shortly afterwards the people who had lost the axe came up with them, and the man who had it, seeing the owners in pursuit, said: “We are done for.”

        “Don’t say ‘We’,” his companion answered; “say ‘I am done for’- since when you found the axe you would not let me share possession of it.”

        If we do not give our friends a share of our good fortune, they will not be faithful to us in adversity.

有福同享，有難同當

        有兩個人結伴旅行時，就在這時，其中一個發現地上有把斧頭。他的同伴說：「我們有個幸運的發現。」另外一個回說：「不要說『我們』，要說『你』的發現。」不久後斧頭的失主來了，那個撿到斧頭的人看到人家來找，說：「我們完了。」

        伙伴回說：「不要說『我們』，要說『我完了』──自從你把斧頭佔為已有開始。」

        假如我們有福不和朋友共享，有難時他們也不會與我們同當。
