Every morning, when the sun rose, everyone in the village heard a rooster singing “Cock-a-doodle-doo”.

每天早上，太陽公公出來的時候，村子裡的人都會聽到大公雞在「咕咕咕！咕咕咕！」的唱歌。

The rooster woke everyone up on time every day, so they all liked him very much.

大公雞每天準時唱歌叫人們起床，村子裡每個人都很喜歡他。

The rooster was very proud. He thought: “It must be my beautiful singing that makes everyone like me so much!”

大公雞很得意，心想：「大家都那麼喜歡我，一定是因為我的歌唱得好聽。

」

One evening, the rooster couldn’t fall asleep. He went up to the roof and started to sing “Cock-a-doodle-doo.”

有一天夜裡，大公雞睡不著覺，便跑到屋頂上，大聲唱著：「咕咕咕！咕咕咕！」

The villagers were awoken by the rooster and became very angry. They opened their windows and shouted to the rooster: “Stop it! It’s too noisy!”

被吵醒的村民都很生氣，把頭伸窗戶對大公雞說：「不要再叫了！太吵了！」

Having heard that, the rooster decided to stop singing because he thought people no longer liked to hear him sing.

大公雞以為大家不再喜歡聽牠唱歌，從此就不敢唱了。

The rooster stopped waking the villagers up in the morning. Everyone got up late!

清晨，村子裡少了大公雞的歌唱，每個人都睡過了頭，生活秩序大亂。

The villagers were anxious, so they went to ask the rooster:” Why don’t you sing anymore in the morning?”

村民都很苦惱，就去對大公雞說：「你早上怎麼不起來唱歌了呢？」

“I was afraid that you didn’t like my singing!” answered the rooster.

大公雞摸著頭，不好意思的說：「我怕你們討厭我唱歌，嫌我太吵。」

“We will still like you if you sing only in the morning not in the evening!” the villagers told the rooster.

村民對大公雞說：「只要你早上唱歌，不要在晚上唱，大家還是很喜歡你的。」

The rooster was very happy. Therefore, it continued to sing in the morning and wake everyone up again.

大公雞很快樂。從此以後，牠就只在早上唱歌，仍然每天叫大家起床。
