FFWPU 3rd Anniversary of Foundation Day and the 15,000 Couples International Marriage Blessing Ceremony

Commemoration of the Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon’s Birthday

 The Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (hereafter referred to as “FFWPU”) revealed that it will host the International Marriage Blessing Ceremony on February 20 (Saturday) at 9 A.M. at the Cheong Shim Peace World Center in Gapyeong, Gyeonggi-do, with 3,000 couples on-site, along with 12,000 couples participating via live Internet broadcast, totaling up to 15,000 couples from 62 nations including the United States, United Kingdom, France, Japan, Israel, Austria, Taiwan, Russia, Brazil, Kenya, etc. (newlywed and previously married couples).

The Birthday Celebration of Rev. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon and the 3rd Anniversary of Foundation Day Celebration concluded with the 2016 International Marriage Blessing Ceremony, which comprised of couples transcending barriers of nationality, race, culture and language. They then pledged themselves in eternal marriage before heaven with 30,000 spectators in attendance, including elder blessed families, VIPs from Korea and abroad, Ambassadors for Peace, etc.

Dr. Hak Ja Han emphasized during the Foundation Day celebration, “Today, we are standing on the foundation of the successful completion of the 3rd Anniversary of Rev. Sun Myung Moon’s Seonghwa Memorial Ceremony. We are starting the 3rd year of Foundation Day and 4th year of Cheon Il Guk. All Blessed Families should keep in mind to establish ‘Vision 2020’ in the coming four years, which is the wish of the Heavenly Parent and all humankind, the dream of One Family Under God. Let us establish the Kingdom of Heaven, the nation of heaven and hope for all humankind, with the accomplishment of the Tribal Messiah within the ‘4 Years of Hope.’”

Hon. Dan Burton, former member of the US House of Representatives, gave congratulatory remarks to bless the brides and grooms in their journey to establish ideal families and a peaceful world. “My wife, Samia and I were blessed last year at this same time, and want you to know that it has strengthened our covenant with God and with each other and inspired us further to build a better world. My wife testifies that I have become a better husband! The blessing you received today is particularly beautiful because it is universal and respects and embraces all denominations, faith traditions and races. It is in that spirit that you are going to go forth from today, not only loving each other and your future children, but you are promising God to love all races, faiths, peoples and nations. God and True Parents are counting on you to go forth as blessed couples who will bring True Love to this hurting world.  Though it takes patience and time to grow, the love you develop as blessed couples should burn so brightly that it lights up the world with love and dissolves the darkness. The Blessing of Marriage and Family is also so beautiful because it is the most wonderful Divine design and plan of God. In the beginning God told mankind to “be fruitful, multiply and have dominion over the earth.”   Marriage built on True Love is the basis to fulfill God’s hope.  Strong loving families are the very cornerstone of a good society and nation. So in this way as Blessed Couples you are going forth to build a new world of goodness for God and all people.”

The first part of the ceremony was the 3rd Anniversary of Foundation Day. The Commemoration Video, Proclamation of Cheon Il Guk Policies, Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon’s Address. The second part of the program was the Cosmic Blessing Ceremony. After the Entrance of the Officiators, Holy Water Ceremony, Affirmation of Vows, Benediction, Exchange of Gifts, Proclamation of Holy Blessing, Offering of Flowers and Gifts, the Hon. Dan Burton, former member of the US House of Representatives, gave congratulatory remarks.

The International Marriage Blessing Ceremonies began in 1961 with 36 couples, and continue to this day, in order to achieve Rev. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon’s peace ideology of “One World Under One God (One Human Family).” The commemorative program closed with a musical (“Dreams of a Cheon Il Guk Butterflies”), depicting the early activities conducted by members in Communist Eastern Europe during the 70s and 80s.

The celebration of the 3rd Anniversary of Foundation Day (January 13 by the lunar calendar) took place prior to the International Marriage Blessing Ceremony. Foundation Day, established by Rev. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon as one of the main holy days of the FFWPU, is “the day that marks the beginning of a new age and history.” This is also the day that God’s nation, Nation of Cosmic Peace and Unity (Cheon Il Guk) becomes established on the earth.

The 2016 Holy Birthday Celebration of Rev. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon and the 3rd Anniversary of Foundation Day will include events such as the Wonmo Pyeongae Foundation Scholarship Award Ceremony, the International Leadership Conference (ILC), Resolution Ceremony in Support of the Formation of The International Parliamentarians Peace Association, various events centered on the unification of the Korean peninsula and a prayer vigil for world peace, etc., in honor of Rev. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon’s lifelong achievements as “peace-loving global citizens.”
