藝術販賣機的點子並不是新的，在1960年代時前衛藝術Fluxus運動時就曾經使用過，Yoko One(小野洋子)也曾經設計天空販賣機，販賣一片天空。她說:
"I would like to see the sky machine on every corner of the street instead of the Coke machine. We need more skies than Coke."
