There is this one book that I am currently reading and it is amazing. It is titled: “Discussions on Youth: For the Leaders of the Future” by Daisaku Ikeda. There are some sayings, quotes, passages that inspired me and I have decided to share it.

(page 79) Dr. David Norton, the late professor of philosophy at the University of Delaware, once observed that many students are caught up the notion that the only purpose of employment us to earn money, that happiness means having money to gratify their desires. But since there is no limit to those desires, they can never truly be satisfied. Real happiness is found in working. Through work, one can develop and fulfill oneself and bring forth the unique value that lies within- and share that value with society. Work exists for the joy of creating value. It is just as Dr. Norton says. Someone else has pointed out that a person’s work should bring happiness to others. Life is truly wonderful when you’re needed somewhere. How boring and empty life would be if, for instance, just because we had the means, all we did every day was pursue idle diversions.

(page 67) Real love is not two people clinging to each other; it can only be fostered between two strong people secure in their individuality. A shallow person will have only shallow relationships. If you want to experience real love, it is important to first sincerely develop a strong self-identity. True love is not about doing whatever the other person wants you to do or pretending you are something you’re not. If someone genuinely loves you, that person will not force you to do anything against your will or embroil you in some dangerous activity.

Secure of Love

The world has opened its heart of light in the morning.

Come out, my heart ,with thy love to meet me.

在清晨,這世界敞開它光明之心.

出來吧我的心,以你的愛與它相遇.

~Rabindranath Tagore

Share with you.
