隨著新秀桑契斯（Gary Sanchez）的崛起，老牌捕手麥肯（Brian McCann）在洋基的出賽機會日漸減少，太空人今天以2名小聯盟右投阿布瑞尤（Albert Abreu）、古茲曼（Jorge Guzman）將麥肯交易至隊中。

32歲的麥肯在洋基3年期間繳出2成35打擊率、69發全壘打、227分打點的成績，不過由於桑契斯今年打出耀眼成績，出賽53場就敲出20轟，在美聯新人王票選排彰化縣埔心鄉借錢管道 名第二，也壓縮到麥肯的上場機會，季末有27場是以指定打擊身分先發出賽。

洋基靠這筆交易補進阿布瑞尤這名太空人排名第7的新秀，捕手還有羅麥恩（Austin Romine）、東岡（Kyle Higashioka）等人可擔任桑契斯替補，不用擔心麥肯離開後的空缺。

對太空人來說，原本主力捕手卡斯楚（Jason Castro）出賽113場僅繳出11轟、32分打點，連續9個球季都敲出20轟的麥肯加入後，可增強打擊火力。

>而洋基在2013年季後與麥肯簽下5年、8500萬美元的合約，據外媒消息指出，未來兩個球季，洋基也會幫忙支付剩下薪資中的550萬美元（約新台幣1.75億元）。
