金州勇士隊教頭科爾昨獲得64張第一名選票支持，以總分381分凍蒜NBA本季年度最佳教練；儘管季初科爾因背部手術缺陣43場比賽，且直到今年1月才真正執掌兵符，但缺席期間的勝仗依然記在他頭上，最後勇士隊締造例行賽73勝9敗的歷史新紀錄。
勇士本季還寫下單季客場最佳成績（34勝7敗），也是史上第一支在單一球季裡未曾吞下2連敗的球隊。但大家心知肚明，科爾畢竟缺陣超過半個球季，讓這一季的傳奇旅程留下些許缺憾。
至於幫科爾代班的助理教練路克華頓，在臨危授命情況下挺身而出，卻展現出高超的帥才，在季初的43場比賽寫下39勝4敗戰績，其中包括開季的24連勝。
除科爾外，其他票選結果是，拓荒者教練史托茲以37張第一名選票、335分排名第2，馬刺教練帕波維奇有10張第一名選票位居第3，黃蜂教練克利福德第4。
