The Six Paths, Six Realms, Six Destinies  六道

   The six destinies. Six kinds of rebirth in sam!sa^ra that are undergone by sentient beings in accord with their good or evil actions carried out in their previous lifetime. These are:

   (1)、Hell（地獄）

   (2)、Ghost（餓鬼）

   (3)、Animal（畜牲）

   (4)、Asura（阿修羅）

   (5)、Human（人）

   (6)、Deva（天，梵天）

  佛教指凡俗眾生因善惡業因而流轉輪迴的六種世界。又稱六趣。即地獄、餓鬼、畜生、阿修羅、人、天。其中，地獄、畜生、餓鬼稱三惡道，或三塗。阿修羅、人、天稱三善道。六道中若不含阿修羅，則為五道，或五趣。
