Chinese PLA Navy-74 Years On: Open Barracks events bring military closer to the public.

Celebration activities to be held for 74th birthday of PLA Navy.

A variety of activities are to be held to celebrate the 74th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese Peoples Liberation Army Navy (PLAN), said Senior Colonel Tan Kefei, spokesperson for Chinas Ministry of National Defense, at a regular press conference on Thursday.

According to the spokesperson, the PLA Navy will organize a series of publicity and education activities on the theme of “Set Sail for a New Era and Embark on a New Journey” around April 23, 2023. During this period, all naval forces will hold national flag-raising ceremonies. A special event to salute the naval heroes will be held at the PLA Naval Museum in Qingdao City, Shandong Province. Vessel open days are to be held in Qingdao, Dalian, Shanghai, Zhoushan, Guangzhou, Zhanjiang and other cities. Foreign naval attachés in China will be invited to visit naval troops and academies.

Besides, naval military music concerts will be held at the Grand Theatre and May Fourth Square in Qingdao. Featured activities including “Warship and City” forum and coastal defense education program on the theme of “Journey across China’s Territorial Waters” are devised to promote the mutual support between the military and civilians. And, other theme events like municipal outdoor light exhibition and communication activities will also be carried out during this period.

This year’s series of publicity and education activities on the founding anniversary of the PLA Navy will vividly show the new look of the PLA navy in pursuing their dreams in the new era, and demonstrate their achievements in fulfilling the military’s centenary goal by the year 2027 and elevating the PLA Navy to world-class standards,

20230422-24日,軍於青島,上海及廣州等22個城市開放軍營予公眾參觀,沿海的軍港碼頭展示多款海軍主戰艦艇,包括導彈驅逐艦開封艦等等。

在青島港3號碼頭展示的三艦一船,均為海軍現役的新型戰艦,包括導彈驅逐艦開封艦,導彈護衛艦大慶艦,綜合補給艦可可西里湖艦和綜合援潛救生船洪澤湖船。

與往年不同今年開放日活動分為靜態展示和動態展示兩個部分。靜態展示主要是艦艇開放,讓民眾近距離了解海軍艦艇官兵的工作生活,動態展示則在碼頭設置了艦艇船藝繩結,國際信號旗語等海軍特色基礎科目,讓民眾可在海軍官兵指導下動手體驗。

回顧人民海軍74年發展:1949年4月23日,解放軍第一支海軍部隊在江蘇泰州白馬廟成立。中國核潛艇總設計師黃旭華等老前輩,為了造出核潛艇隱姓埋名多年。

1974年8月,中國建造的第一艘核潛艇「長征一號」編入戰鬥序列；1988年，導彈核潛艇水下發射運載火箭成功,中國成為世界上第五個擁有核潛艇發射運載火箭能力的國家。

1994年,中國自行研製建造的第二代導彈驅逐艦哈爾濱艦服役,標誌着中國開始具備遠洋作戰能力。2006年，中國第一艘大型兩棲艦「崑崙山」下水，標誌着中國海軍登陸作戰樣式發生重大變化。

2012年9月25日,中國第一艘航母遼寧艦入列；2017年4月26日,中國第一艘自主研發製造的國產航母山東艦下水,2019年12月17日,山東艦交付海軍,人民海軍自此步入「雙航母時代」。

2018年4月12日,南海大閱兵派出48艘戰艦,76架戰機參與,成為新中國史上規模最大的海上閱兵,2020年1月12日,中國自主研製的055型萬噸級驅逐艦首艦南昌艦入列；2021年4月23日,國產首艘075型兩棲攻擊艦海南艦在海南三亞某軍港交接入列；2022年6月17日,首艘國產電磁彈射型航母福建艦下水命名,海軍迎來「三航母時代」

To mark its 74th birthday, the Chinese PLA Navy has held several Open Barracks events in south Chinas Guangzhou City. Authorities say they hope the initiative can help the public better understand the achievements of reform and development made by the national defense and the military. CGTNs Xu Hua has more.

XU HUA Guangzhou "Its really a rare chance for the public to get so close to active-duty warships. Today, in Guangzhous Xinzhou Port, visitors can not only step on three different types of warships, but also can talk with soldiers about things, such as their functions and operations."

The three warships include "Hanzhong," a missile frigate, "Hejian," a new type of minesweeper, and a "Type 22" missile boat.

XU HUA Guangzhou "The Hanzhong is an important force guarding Chinas southern territories."

It mainly carries out diversified missions and tasks such as maritime patrols and anti-submarine operations. It also escorts fishing vessels operating in the region.

XU HUA Guangzhou "Hejian, on the other hand, is responsible for mine hunting and remote minesweeping operations."

It can hunt and sweep all kinds of fuze anchor mines and bottom mines.

While the "Type 22" missile boat is mainly used to fight large and medium-sized surface ships and formations outside the defense area and blocking straits.

The magnificent warships, and the smartly-dressed naval crew, seem to have really inspired the curiosity of the youngest visitors.

"When I saw the majestic warships and saw something I could not see normally in my daily life, my heart was shocked."

"Its been a childhood dream to become a carrier-based pilot, and this visit motivates me even more strongly to pursue that dream and safeguard our country from sky."

A 78-year-old combat hero of the Chinese PLA Navy, Mai Xiande, shared his story from 1965, when he fought relentlessly for three hours despite severe head injuries and bleeding.

"When I grow up, I want to become a glorious peoples Navy soldier, to guard the territory of our motherland."
