因為依據過去遼寧號001A.CV16號航空母艦的海試作業也是如此,先於渤海灣內小規模側試,先暖熱航空母艦的燃氣渦輪引擎,以及電力系統,通訊系統,等主要設備系統,通過測試後,再安排主要正式的海洋測試作業,中國海軍小心翼翼的遵守標準測試規則系統為主,並不是隨便的玩弄武器,綜合觀察美國,英國,法國,蘇聯,他們測試航空母艦時期高達1年的時間,其目的就是驗證所有的航空母艦設計參數與軍事功能相符合,回饋於設計單位,修正數值為下一艘航空母艦設計時修正參考,由於這是第一艘中國自行研發設計,施工建造的航空母艦,雖然參考001A.CV16遼寧號的設計原圖及數據,但是中國海軍創新的航空母艦功能,在002A .CV17 山東號展現出,經由測試才能知曉是否得當.

一般來說，航母海試過程中有六個大項最為關鍵：操錨試驗、高速轉彎試驗、抗衝擊試驗、精確進場、著艦系統試驗和作戰系統測試。

002航母來說，它從硬體到軟體都是國產的，這點比起直接改造"瓦格良"號航母而成的遼寧艦，在各個方面顯然要有更多的餘裕。並且有過遼寧艦海試的經驗，相信002航母海試的過程會更加順利，加入海軍大家庭的時間會更快到來。

China’s defence ministry has confirmed that the country’s first locally built aircraft carrier has entered its final stage of construction before the hull is launched, which media reports suggest could be as early as April 23, the founding anniversary of the navy.

“China’s first home-built aircraft carrier is now being fitted out, everything is going very smoothly,” defence ministry spokesman Wu Qian said on Thursday when asked about the carrier’s upcoming launch.

“Regarding the news [about whether the ship will be launched in time for the navy’s anniversary] I believe you won’t have to wait too long.”

Earlier this week, mainland media reported that the carrier, temporarily named the Type 001A, would be launched on April 23, the 68th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Liberation Army Navy.

“Beijing will arrange a celebration for the first sea trial because the Type 001A was the first aircraft carrier fully designed and produced by Chinese shipbuilders,” one of the sources told the South China Morning Post, adding the maiden trial was likely to be carried out just before the 69th anniversary of the founding of the PLA Navy on April 23.

“The specific sea trial day will be decided by hydrological and tidal conditions, with a high tide level being the best criteria.”

Recent online photos showed the carrier, which was launched on April 26 last year, with the scaffolding removed following outfitting work.

Last month, Liu Zheng, chairman of Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (DSIC), confirmed at sideline of the annual National People’s Congress that the Type 001A was ready for sea trials.

Another source close to the navy said the trial would test the ship’s basic functions, including power systems, damage control and radar and communication systems.

“The maiden trial may just involve turning a circle in Bohai bay, making sure every deck under the water does not suffer leaks,” the naval source, who requested anonymity, told the Post.
