when activate the BMW ICOM Software why need insert the hard disk into the laptop, could not use the USB Cable to connect

For the bwm icom, if you buy it with laptop include the software, you can use it directly after receive.

If you just buy the BMW ICOM with hard disk include the software or just buy the software in hard disk, when you receive, you need tell us the Teamviewer id and password to activate.

When we activate the software, we always asked the customer to remove the original hard disk from their laptop, the insert the bmw icom hard disk into the laptop. Then we can activate later, but so many customer do not understand, they just use the USB Cable to connect the hard disk with the laptop. And they asked what is different between when they use the cable to connect and insert the hard disk into the laptop?
