利用下巴骨橫向切開術，將下巴骨下半段向前移位來增加下巴突出，隨著切骨前後的斜度，可以同時增加或減少臉部上下長度，並保留本身下巴下端的圓弧度，結果更為自然。相反的，假如下巴太大或過於前突，也可用於下巴後縮使用。手術必須利用鋼線或是鈦合金小固定板及螺絲固定骨頭，使其生長固定。

Sliding genioplasty can be an adjunctive procedure to rhinoplasty if the patient has a weak chin and wants a more harmonic face features.

     On the contrast, sliding genioplasty can decrease the projection of chin if the patient has a strong chin (macrogenia).
