(1) sign 的字義本身就是「簽名」，也有「簽署」（文件）和「背書」（支票）的意思，因此 sign 後面不需要畫蛇添足加上 your name；例如，「簽約」是在契約上簽名，寫法是 sign the contract，不能直譯成 sign your name on the contract；同理，在支票上簽名是 sign the check，不是 sign your name on the check。

(2) 在支票上簽名稱為「背書」，即 endorse，因此 sign the check 也可以寫成 endorse the check，如以下 Merriam-Webster 例句：
