3. How is the project going?

(1) 原句應為「專案進度如何」的中文直譯，是標準「中式英文」。What is . . . ? 的句意是「什麼是‥‥？/‥‥是什麼？」，翻回中文會變成「專案的進展是什麼？」，跟「如何」(how) 的邏輯南轅北轍。

(2) progress with something（progress 為「不及物動詞」）是表示「進度」的「慣用語」(idiom) ，口語中採用「現在進行式」。當面詢問某人（you）所負責的專案進行得如何時，負責人即為該句「主詞」。 

(3) make progress on something（progress 為「不可數名詞」）也可用來表示「進度」，以「被動語態」呈現可以省略「主動語態」的「主詞」，適用範圍較廣，不限定於專案負責人，例如：

a. 詢問任何一位專案成員：  

How much progress has been made by the team on the project?

= How much progress has the team made toward completing the project?

b. 本身也是專案成員之一：

How much progress has been made by us on the project?

= How much progress have we made toward completing the project?

(4) 上述兩種情況的非正式口語表達方式為： 

a. How is the project going?

b. How are we doing with the project?

(5) 對於此類詢問，宜以「片語動詞」come along 來回答：

It is coming along fine/well/nicely.
