(1) fix 是「毒品的劑量」，而 get a fix 是美國 1930 年代的俚語，意思是「買毒」或「解毒癮」。1950 年代，get a fix 引伸出非毒品的解癮用法，但並不是 get a fix of something，如喜好游泳的人，可以把游泳說成 a chlorine fix，是因泳池中加了氯 (chlorine) 而得名，例如：

Chris referred to her daily swim in the pool as her chlorine fix.

（Chris 每天都到泳池游泳，並自稱是解氯癮。）
