嘉義縣有一群熱愛獨木舟的人十多年來一直在東石布袋的河海快樂划船，常得其樂。年前有一天被2014亞運五項獨木舟亞軍的幕後功臣邱教練突然告知布袋東石的幾個沿海新建滯洪池都達到國際比賽標準水域。集體討論後一致著手開辦縣長盃並與過溝國中、布新國小、六美國小、松梅國小等共同辦理。

為後續獎勵後進與提倡國內與縣內之獨木舟風氣，更共同籌組嘉義縣水域遊憩協會，定期聚會討論每年活動。其中為更深層推廣獨木舟與帆船活動，幾位理監事也出 錢出力籌設本民宿，讓同好者有聚會之處，而好奇者或住宿者能有機會接觸安全的獨木舟與重型帆船活動，且也能將相關收入約兩三成提撥購置船艇借給學校並獎助 學生及贊助活動。

最後我們藉此展臂歡迎國內同好者或住宿需求者都能來，您的支持或住宿也是讓國內安全船艇活動可以永續推廣的一份力量，我們也由衷感謝您的共襄盛舉，讓獨木舟與帆船的天堂不必只在國外，只要您願意或多點人願意，休閒天堂也可以在國內，不論在海岸一角或在心中。

Some local kayakers have been happily kayaking on the rivers, lakes, and sea during the past decade. Not until 2014, they were notified there were detention basins around them were all good enough for international contest fields by a couch, who couched 4 kayaking second best winners in Asian Sport Game 2014. Then they began to start projects for kayak promotion in schools and even make this B & B possible for buying kayaks and sailboats for schools.
