The Stun gun M26 and the X26 are models of a law enforcement issue Taser. Tasers have become the weapon of choice for law enforcement and for personal protection since they can subdue an attacker or suspect in a non-lethal way. Both models of this Advanced Taser are safe and effective, as well as easy to use with the proper training.

The Introduction of Tasers

Personal security is a concern for most Americans. The original form of the Taser used gun-powder and was introduced by a NASA researcher in 1974. After much development, Taser International developed a non-firearm Taser which was intended to send shock waves of electric current through the electrodes and into an attacker's body to interrupt voluntary control of muscles.

M26 Model

Taser International introduced the M26 model in 1999. It was a popular alternative weapon for law enforcement due to its non-lethal apprehension of suspects. The M26 Taser is powered by eight AA batteries and is designed to be worn on an officer's duty belt.

X26 Model

The new X26 model uses a lithium energy "cell" battery instead of eight AA batteries. The X26 model also has a battery life indicator, a warranty counter, a firing cycle countdown and USB port for connection with other electronic devices such as a PC or laptop.

Differences Between the M26 and the X26

The differences between the M26 and X26 models are that the X26 is smaller and lighter, it puts down suspects faster and it uses less energy. The Lithium battery not only makes the X26 model lighter and smaller, but the battery lasts much longer than the eight AA batteries required by the M26. The X26 also comes with a specially designed retention holster and performs more activations or firings than the M26, making it more cost efficient.
