Question Regarding Nexiq Adapter for My '99 and '01 Dodge/Cummins

I use a Cat Detroit Volvo laptop for work and a Cummins for my truck. The Nexiq data connection works great for all my needs.

I recently bought the nexiq 3 usb link connector specifically for my Dodge/Cummins. The '99 harness has a triangular 3-pin connector, and the '01 harness has a 3-pin connector near the ECM. However, the Nexiq adapter only has a 3-pin triangle plug, not the other 3-pin type.

 Issue Encountered

Yesterday, I tried to connect to the ECM on the '99 Dodge, but it didn’t work. Instead, it triggered a Check Engine Light communication code error. I managed to clear this code using a different device.

Additionally, I have '99 datalinks with Quadzilla connected, but the 3-pin triangle plug only has 2 wires.
