Absurd

Adjective

1. completely stupid, unreasonable, or impossible to believe.

E.g. she makes the most absurd claims about her past achievements.

Overturn

Verb

1.  to turn something so that its bottom or side is upward

E.g. the appeal court refused to overturn the lower court’s decision.

Particle

Noun

1.  an extremely small piece or amount of something

E.g. Particles of dirt settle on the tablecloth.

Binding

Adjective

1.   if an agreement, contract, decision, etc. is binding, you must do what it says\

     E.g. the agreement is binding on you.

Outlying

Adjective

1.   existing outside and away from a particular place

E.g. many of the pupils travel in by bus from outlying areas.

  E.g. the power of the government was present, in its watchmen, supervisors of the market and police force, but     it did not express itself in large and ostentatious buildings.

 Placard

1.    a notice posted in a public place

E.g. the placard on the door says that the church was built in the late 1600s.

Prestigious

1.    of, relating to, or marked by illusion, conjuring, or trickery

E.g. a nutritional study that has been published by a prestigious medical journal.
