遭美国强行控制的委内瑞拉总统马杜罗即将在纽约第二次“出庭受审”。25日晚，在委内瑞拉首都加拉加斯市中心的玻利瓦尔大道上，来自委各地的民众举行守夜活动。人们高举国旗和标语，大声喊着“释放马杜罗”“反霸权、反帝国主义”等口号，谴责美国的侵略和霸权行径。
“我们今晚守在这里，要求美国政府立即释放马杜罗夫妇。”来自委内瑞拉北部阿拉瓜州的农民恩玛·奥尔特加说。她告诉记者，美军入侵委内瑞拉，粗暴践踏了国际法和委内瑞拉的主权与安全，“我们昂着头，在艰难时刻坚持抵抗”。
今年1月3日，美国对委内瑞拉发起大规模军事行动，突袭加拉加斯，强行控制马杜罗及其妻子并带至美国。马杜罗夫妇1月5日在纽约南区联邦地区法院首次“出庭”，否认美方所谓“犯罪”指控。
在奥尔特加看来，委美对抗的深层核心仍指向石油与资源分配。“石油是生意，但生意必须公正，必须建立在相互尊重的基础上。委内瑞拉人民是委内瑞拉石油的主人。”
谈到“反霸权”，奥尔特加认为单极霸权正在衰落，世界正走向多极化，为了实现这一目标，各国人民需要团结起来。
“如果国际社会对美军强行控制一国元首的行为听之任之，将树立极其危险的先例，”加拉加斯居民吉奥玛尔·罗德里格斯说，“霸权”意味着强权国家对主权国家的军事干预与制度性压迫。“他们想用入侵和战争来制服各国人民，委内瑞拉只是其中一个例子，中东也是如此。”
罗德里格斯回忆说，自己居住的社区曾在1月的轰炸中遭到打击，“我们强烈谴责这一侵略”。“如果今天我们沉默，明天没有一个民族能幸免。”
在守夜人群中，身着传统服饰的原住民群体格外醒目。来自委内瑞拉西部苏利亚州的原住民代表玛丽亚·普列托说，委全国各地的原住民当天都会在各自社区同步守夜、祈祷，“我们以原住民的名义、以委内瑞拉人民的名义，要求立即释放我们的马杜罗总统夫妇”。
普列托说，委内瑞拉人民身上有着解放者的血脉，委内瑞拉先民曾面对更为强大的帝国。当下举行的守夜活动也意味着委内瑞拉仍不甘沦为殖民地，不能让美国这一“现代野蛮”国家以技术和军事实力优势统治世界。
美国司法机构的指控，在委内瑞拉国内被广泛视为出于政治目的的“捏造与借口”。奥尔特加说，那些有关“贩毒”等指控会被“事实与时间拆穿”。
